Fear The Walking Dead's Alicia Change Makes Madison's Return Even Better
WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Fear The Walking Dead season 7, episode 9
Recent changes to Alicia's story in Fear The Walking Dead make Madison's return even better. Nearly three seasons after being seemingly killed off in season 4, Madison Clark will finally return in Fear the Walking Dead season 7. And the recent developments in her daughter's current storyline serve to improve her long-awaited return.
Fear The Walking Dead season 7 has put Alicia in a rather grim predicament. Following her capture by Teddy, she is put into a situation that sees her bit. Despite being able to amputate the infected area, she is still stuck with a fever, leaving her to believe that the virus spread and her days are numbered. Fortunately, the midseason premiere gives Alicia a new purpose to follow, one that will bring her closer to her mother than ever before.
In Fear The Walking Dead season 7's midseason premiere, Alicia tries to make sense of a recurring dream she has regarding the mysterious "PADRE." By the end of the episode, she determines that her mission is to become a leader and bring others to a haven of her own. What's significant is that during her conversation with Morgan about her dream, she discusses how she has spent most of her life following the lead of others and their dreams. Tellingly, Madison is among those mentioned. This is a satisfying development for Alicia's character and one that will make Madison's return much more profound.
In Fear The Walking Dead season 4, Madison had the ambition of trying to make the world a better place, which she intended to do through the stadium. Unfortunately, this all fell apart thanks to the Fear the Walking Dead season 4 villain group, the Vultures. Their attack on the stadium left it overrun and destroyed, with Madison sacrificing her life so others can escape. Now that season 7 confirms she survived, she can make up for that disaster by helping Alicia make her dream a reality. This will provide an emotionally cathartic reunion between the two that allows Madison to see the impact she has had on her daughter.
With the second half of Fear The Walking Dead season 7 underway, viewers will now see how Madison's return and integration into the story unfolds. The series will also show whether Alicia's fever will be the end of her. Since Alicia's death is a major risk that the show can't afford, it seems that her dream indicates that she will be around for a little longer, and Madison's return will be better because of it.
New episodes of Fear The Walking Dead premiere on Sundays at 9 pm on AMC and one week early on AMC+.
