Best Reddit Reactions To The Circle Season 4 Trailer
Reddit is one of the biggest hubs for fans of Netflix's The Circle, and these are the best reactions to season 4's recently released trailer.
Netflix's reality show The Circle has become one of Netflix's flagship programs, as the series has aired three full seasons to date. With season 3 coming to a close in September of 2021, fans were clamoring for news on another season. This past week, they finally got some.
The upcoming season of The Circle, which premieres on May 4th, got a trailer and cast reveal as the first episode air date draws closer. Reddit is one of the biggest centralized areas where fans of the show flock to in order to discuss the series, so the post about these trailers had some fun reactions.
While the trailer revealed a new and exciting cast for fans to discuss, the top comment on the most popular post promoting the new trailer mentions only one name, one that is not a contestant on the show. Commenter Kriss_Snow wrote "One of the guys really looks like Andy Samberg lol".
Being compared to Samberg is surely not a diss, but it is comedic that he somehow made his way to the top of the comments on a subreddit dedicated to a reality show he has no affiliation to. The contestant's real name is Josh Brubaker, someone who is also known a bit for his own identity.
To elaborate on Josh's success, he is actually a pretty successful TikToker, boasting over 4 million followers on his account. Perhaps even more notable is that he helped host the red carpet event for the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home. This did not go over the head of fans of the show, as numerous users mentioned recognizing him as someone other than Andy Samberg, such as Redditor cassie32053 excitedly commenting "omg it’s Bru!!!!"
Duochromepalmtree added a comment reading "Wow a couple of big tik tokers [sic]. Interesting casting!" Besides Bru, contestant Crissa Jackson is probably the most notable TikToker. Her account, dedicated to motivational posts, actually has three times the followers that Bru has. She also played for the Harlem Globetrotters.
Reddit users love wholesome moments, as the wholesome memes subreddit does boast over eleven million followers. The subreddit for The Circle experienced its own extremely wholesome moment with the release of the trailer for The Circle season 4, as one contestant's friends did exactly what anyone would want their peers to do.
User TheAlexDayy commented "I spy my best friend Alex Brizard!! @awildbriz" on the post promoting the new trailer. This was the first comment the newly created account had too, showing that this loyal pal of contestant Alex Brizard did this solely for him. Adding in his Instagram handle to finish off the comment was a nice touch, too.
There have been rumors circulating online about a potential member of UK pop group The Spice Girls making a surprise appearance on the show, and the release of this trailer continued to add fuel to the fire surrounding that. The trailer ended with the word "Spice" designed with the Union Jack on the flag of the United Kingdom, and silhouettes throwing up the group's memorable peace sign.
This was not ignored by fans, as plenty of comments tried to piece clues together to confirm or deny this rumor. Commenter masonnguyen936 had a huge piece of evidence, writing "y’all the spice girls retweeted the trailer on twitter i think they could actually be on im lowkey spiraling rn." The group did indeed retweet the trailer on their official account, meaning anything is possible for this next season.
While pro-Spice Girls enthusiasm ran rampant among fans, some users tried to pump the brakes on that in order to avoid extreme disappointment if they don't make an appearance. The alternative theory still sounds very fun though.
Reddit user kurenzhi summed it up well, writing "I believe the prevailing rumor is that it's Victoria ("Spicy V") from Big Brother Canada 9 and Bryce Izyah from Survivor: Cagayan. Spicy V was caught on an earlier promo, iirc, [sic] and Bryce is close friends with Jack from last season." This would help explain the constant spice references, even if it isn't as exciting. Another user, Scoots_12, added that "And Cely from Love Island" has also been rumored. The Circle is known for having contestants catfish as someone else, so it is unclear if they would actually play themselves.
With catfishing being such a common strategy on the show, it is no surprise that two contestants, John and Parker, are coming in playing as someone else. What is surprising though, is who they will be playing; their parents. John will come in as his mother, Carol, and Parker as her father, Paul. This was revealed in the cast reveal, which came out right after the trailer.
User That_one_cool_dude pointed out these two, commenting "Ok I am really interested to see how the guy playing his mom and the girl playing her dad will do." Mcchampionship added a humorous reply, writing "I think they will become friends because of their "age" (of the people their catfishing as) but then when they meet their [sic] like 'YOUR A CATFISH' 'SO ARE YOU'." That would be hysterical to watch play out, as two people in their twenty's [sic] try their best to act like someone thirty years their elder. Maybe they could form one of the most unexpected friendships in The Circle's history, as two people cosplaying 50-year-olds.
Since The Circle is a reality show entirely revolving around a made-up social media platform, it is likely that the majority of the show's viewers probably enjoy using social media platforms themselves. With the grand prize for the winner being over $100,000, some fans have questioned why they use social media for free.
Redditor afar28 commented "I feel like im missing out by using social media for free when one of these people will win 150k to use it!" That is certainly a good question to ask, and an even better reason to try and get on The Circle.
Being in a community of like-minded individuals who have the same interests is the best part of Reddit, so seeing how excited people got at the highly anticipated trailer was definitely great fun.
Commenter trashbash47 kept it simple yet relatable, writing "when i tell you i screamed." AdventHeart seconded the sentiment, writing "Ahhhhh! This is not a drill ! This is not a drill !" The party-like atmosphere of the comment box on the trailer was certainly enjoyable, as everyone's favorite reality show is finally coming back, and clearly fans are more than ready.
