It’s reckoned Jurgen Klopp made a bold proposal for Moreira, who has represented both Belgium and Portugal at youth level.
And while the forward himself was tempted to join Liverpool, his family were slightly more cautious.
Benfica also put forward an offer to sign Moreira for their youth team at the same time.
And after his family “hesitated” while weighing up the risks of joining an illustrious side like Liverpool, they instead persuaded Moreira to take the more sensible route with Benfica.
Since signing for the Portuguese giants, Moreira has started to make a real name for himself.
The teenager scored four goals and notched a further five assists in 10 Uefa Youth League games this season.
And Moreira played a key role in last week’s 6-0 victory over RB Salzburg in the final of the competition.
It’s now believed he is attracting interest from none other than Manchester City, who currently are rivalling Liverpool in the Premier League and Champions League.

But the Reds could yet reignite their interest as Klopp looks to invest in top youth signings.
Liverpool signed Harvey Elliott from Fulham in 2019 when he was just 16 years old, with the winger quickly becoming the youngest-ever player to start a competitive game for the Reds.
The Reds are also understood to have raided Fulham yet again, this time for 19-year-old Fabio Carvalho.
It’s said that a deal has already been completed, and will be announced once the season is at an end.
