BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2022 – SPOTY latest winner odds: Ronnie O’Sullivan leads Tyson Fury and Harry Kane

0

RONNIE O’SULLIVAN is favourite to be crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2022.

That’s according to bookmakers Betfair, who’ve slashed the snooker superstar’s odds from 100/1 to 10/3 frontrunner over the last 48 hours.

O’Sullivan, 46, claimed a record-equalling seventh World Championship title with an 18-13 win over Judd Trump in Sheffield.

The Englishman became the oldest world champion in Crucible history, and draws level with Stephen Hendry.

O’Sullivan has won 39 ranking titles and is fancied to add an altogether different trophy to his collection when the award is dished out in December.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Ronnie O’Sullivan can still capture the attention of the British public after coming in from a mammoth 100/1 to 10/3 favourite to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year after winning his seventh snooker World Championship.”

Tyson Fury was the previous SPOTY favourite after beating Dillian Whyte in his last fight before strongly hinting at retirement.

Fury produced a stunning one-punch stoppage in front of 94,000 people at Wembley Stadium to retain his WBC title.

The 33-year-old famously protested at his inclusion but was still named on the six-athlete shortlist for the award last year.

He’s available at 13/2, ahead of England captain Harry Kane at 10/1.

The Three Lions talisman will lead England to the World Cup in Qatar in November and December as one of the tournament favourites.

Last year’s winner Emma Raducanu and Phil Foden follow next at 12/1 and 18/1 respectively.

Lewis Hamilton, Dina Asher-Smith, Mark Cavendish, Katie Omerod, Zoe Aldcroft and Eve Muirhead are all available at 20/1.
