The Batman Honest Trailer Pokes Fun At Gen Z Bruce Wayne [EXCLUSIVE]

0

Screen Rant may not be the hero Gotham deserves, but we're the one it needs right now, having been tasked with the duty of unveiling The Batman Honest Trailer. The latest Screen Junkiest production pokes fun at the dark and over-serious tone of the recent entry into DC film canon, while still acknowledging the quality and success of the movie.

Successful is the only word for it, seeing as Matt Reeves take on The Batman has grossed over $764 million worldwide. In fact, it has become the director's highest-grossing film yet, recently edging out 2014's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Not only that, but it has been raking in rave reviews and acclaim across the board for its story, performances and attention to detail. Based on Rotten Tomatoes scores, it is currently one of the best-reviewed DCEU movies, even if it Reeves isn't besting his own previous scores.

That being said, Honest Trailers delights in finding tomfoolery even in the brightest of gems, and The Batman certainly has a few dark spots to make light of. Screen Junkies' newest Honest Trailer, which Screen Rant can proudly present before today's official launch, pokes fun at how literally dark the film is and how emo Bruce himself is. Check out the Honest Trailer for The Batman below:

The video emphasizes the Gen Z nature of not just Batman's personality but also the Riddler's brand of terror with a few tongue-in-cheek digs at internet culture at large and some good-natured jabs at Screen Junkies viewers specifically. Perhaps most importantly, the trailer accurately highlights how much Batman relies on other characters to do his detective work when he's the one with the title of "world's greatest." Do better, Bruce! Other aspects of The Batman that get lovingly lampooned are Gordon's awkward buddy cop routine, Colin Farrell's Penguin transformation, and Bruce's inability to show up to work.

If that isn't enough The Batman goodness for you, be sure to check out the newest project from Screen Junkies: Honest Theme Songs! Check out the hilarious and ballad-filled premiere episode below:

From the minds behind "Honest Trailers" comes "Honest Theme Songs," a series that gives new releases the epic music videos that blockbusters from the 80's to early 2000's used to receive. Starting off with an homage to Seal's legendary "Kiss From A Rose'' video for Batman Forever, now it's 2022's The Batman's turn to get the romantic power ballad it so deeply deserves.

As if being the highest-grossing film in the first quarter of 2022 wasn't enough, The Batman has made its way to HBO Max and can be enjoyed all over again with a subscription. For those who wish to hold a physical copy of Bruce Wayne's existential crisis in their hands, the film will be coming to Blu-ray, 4K and DVD on May 24. In the meantime, audiences can relive the goth times with The Batman Honest Trailer and Honest Theme Song.
