Does Doctor Strange 2 Have A Post Credits Scene (& How Many?)

0

Does Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have an after-credits scene that sets up any Marvel Cinematic Universe movies? The Doctor Strange sequel will mark the 28th feature film in the MCU, starring Benedict Cumberbatch back in his role as the former neurosurgeon turned Master of the Mystic Arts. Doctor Strange 2 also marks a turning point in the MCU by diving headfirst into the MCU's multiverse after the consequences of its existence were explored in Spider-Man: No Way Home through Strange's spell gone wrong.

A Doctor Strange sequel was announced shortly after the success of the 2016 installment. Since then, Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange became an integral character in the overarching MCU franchise, playing a role in the fight against Thanos through Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Though Scott Derrickson was originally set to return for Doctor Strange 2, Sam Raimi ended up in the director's chair for the highly-anticipated sequel. While embracing the horror side of the mystic arts, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will investigate all aspects of the franchise's alternate universes as a new villain comes to light. While the Doctor Strange sequel will bring back Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Wong (Benedict Wong), and Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), the follow-up will also bring in Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) as key allies. With that said, does Doctor Strange 2 have any post-credits scenes?

In following the MCU trend, the answer is yes; Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has TWO credits scenes. Not only is there a mid-credits scene to stick around for, but there will also be a traditional MCU after-credits scene. The mid-credits scene teases a future MCU movie, while the scene following the credits serves as a fun sequence as a gift to those who stuck around. That said, it's always worth staying after the movie to honor the many people who brought the movie to life, which was years in the making.

Many will remember the credits scenes that came at the end of 2016's Doctor Strange. The mid-credits featured the return of Chris Hemsworth's Thor as Strange decided to assist the God of Thunder and Loki in searching for their father, Odin. This, of course, was meant to set up Thor: Ragnarok, which premiered the following year. The Doctor Strange post-credits scene then showed Mordo stealing the mystical energy that Jonathan Pangborn (Benjamin Bratt) used for his ability to walk before claiming that the planet had "too many sorcerers," essentially setting up an aspect surrounding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Some may have wondered if Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would follow in the footsteps of Spider-Man: No Way Home by showing a full trailer in place of a credits scene. However, that will not be the case. Thor: Love and Thunder has released its first trailer, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's release is still too far out for any major footage releases. Either way, moviegoers will surely have an idea of where the MCU is heading after seeing the credits scenes.
