The Circle season 4 premieres on May 4, and with nine new contestants entering the social popularity game, here's what fans need to know about John Franklin. The Netflix reality show has been a fan favorite since season 1 premiered in 2020, which sees players getting to know each other while completely separated. After weeks of "blocks," the least-voted contestant out of the competition and the last contestant left standing not only gains the coveted winner's title but a hefty $150,000 grand prize.
With players unable to interact with each other except through a screen, The Circle allows contestants to play the game as anyone they want. While most of the cast for season 4 intends to play as themselves, at least at the beginning, John is an exception, as Netflix's April 28 teaser shows the incoming player catfishing from the get-go. John can be seen several times during the season 4 trailer in disbelief at so much money on the line. The most interesting moment from John is when he's tasked with answering a racy message from another contestant, as he ponders, "I'm just realizing now that I'm going to have to reply as my mom."
That's right: John is not playing The Circle as himself, but as the matriarch of his family, Carol. While John isn't the only cast member planning to catfish (fellow player Parker Abbott is going in The Circle as her father Paul), John's confidence and charming persona came through Netflix's trailer and cast reveal. John, who will be on The Circle season 4 with Rachel Evans, is 24-years-old and is the second-youngest contestant after Parker. Although his exact birthday is unknown, John's LinkedIn shows that he received a BA in Broadcast Journalism from Quinnipiac University in 2019; John then received a Master's in Interactive Media and Communications from Quinnipiac in 2020. As an Italian-American from New Jersey, John says that he "is as Italian as it possibly gets" and grew up in North Caldwell, the same NJ town where The Sopranos was filmed.
While John is primarily a social media content creator, the proud Italian-American wears many creative hats. With his degree in Broadcast Journalism, John has worked as a radio host and a sports reporter. However, John's LinkedIn shows that he currently works for BetMGM's social media department in Jersey City. John, who is on The Circle season 4 with Crissa Jackson, has an impressive resume as lists the Wentworth Institute of Technology and iHeartMedia as past employers. When he's not working his day job, John is busy performing stand-up comedy and musical skits online.
