Razer's Captain America Xbox Controller Commemorates Sam's Suit

0

Razer's newest Xbox wireless controller takes inspiration from the Captain America suit that Sam Wilson dons in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The tech manufacturer revealed its partnership with Marvel in March, showcasing a first look at the Captain America-inspired controller and charging stand. Such an announcement came as somewhat of a surprise, given that the Captain America spinoff series originally premiered on Disney+ in Spring 2021. However, it is worth noting that Falcon himself, Anthony Mackie, did participate in an Xbox ad for Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Notably, this marks only one of the devices to come out Xbox's and Marvel's recent partnership. In April, Xbox launched a sweepstakes for participants to have a chance at winning an Xbox Series S console themed after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This sweepstakes also includes four different Xbox wireless controllers, each one inspired by a character in the Sam Raimi-directed MCU film - Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Wong, and America Chavez. The sweepstakes will come to a close later this month on May 18 but fans can get their hands on another Marvel-branded Xbox collectible right now.

The all-new Captain America Xbox controller is available to purchase now through online storefronts such as Amazon and Razer's official website. Priced at $179, the product comes packed with a wireless gamepad and quick charging stand, both modeled after the Captain America suit that Sam Wilson dons in Disney's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV series. In terms of platform support, users can expect the device to function across PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

As far as special edition Xbox controllers go, this one arguably stands a cut above the rest. The level of detail is especially awe-inspiring on both the controller and the quick charging stand. Some may consider the product a bit too pricey, though, given that Xbox wireless controllers usually run no more than $60 while Razer's charging stand costs around $40. An extra $80 or so for the Captain America makeover could be well worth it for other players, however.

Razer and Marvel plan on working together to create even more officially licensed products. The specifics remain unknown for the time being, but it wouldn't come as too much of a surprise if new gear from Razer launched alongside upcoming film projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A Thor: Love and Thunder-themed Xbox console would prove quite the looker, the same goes for one modeled after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
