Carl Radke of Summer House has been known as the resident party boy since the onset of the show, but since making the monumental decision to become sober, he has become the MVP of season 6. Over the years, Carl stole the hearts of Summer House fans and his housemates, particularly Lauren Wirkus in season 1. Unfortunately, his inability to commit caused havoc between them and their drama carried over to the rest of the Summer House crew. Carl then tried to make it work with fellow Summer House star Lindsay Hubbard in season 4, but Lindsay wanted more than Carl could give at the time.
In May of 2020, Carl announced he was 90 days sober, crediting the loss of his brother as a huge motivation. Half of the Summer House crew went on to join Winter House, but Carl chose not to take part in the show and focused on his sobriety instead. Much to Summer House fans’ delight, he re-joined the cast of season 6. Viewers saw a completely different side to him as he seemed lighter and happier. Carl shared that sticking to daily routines like meditating and exercising every day helped him with his mental health.
Summer House fans noticed Carl’s more zen behavior this season when Lindsay went off on him during a cast dinner. When questioned about her relationship status with Winter House co-star Jason Cameron, she jumped down Carl’s throat. Instead of barking back at her, he remained calm and let her cool off. Later, she confessed to Carl that she had a miscarriage with Jason’s baby right after learning she was pregnant. Carl was clearly devastated for her, and fans enjoyed their intimate moment together.

Although Carl wasn’t in the forefront of any Summer House drama for season 6, there were plenty of cast members who were in the middle of it. One of the biggest drama's this season was Ciara Miller and Lindsay's weird love triangle with Southern Charm star Austen Kroll. Things got so bad that Ciara threw a wine glass at Danielle Olivera during dinner while they were arguing about the sticky situation. The rest of the Summer House got caught in the crossfire, but Carl remained calm even though he got red wine all over his clothes.
Summer House cast member Kyle Cooke recently threw a tantrum while the cast was out to dinner. His now-wife and fellow castmate Amanda Batula looked embarrassed as he slammed the table with his fist and yelled at his housemates. Kyle got so heated that he walked away. Carl followed him and calmed him down by being understanding and supportive. Carl seems to be the grounding force for the rest of the Summer House crew, which helps calm down the chaos within the house. The Carl from previous Summer House seasons wouldn’t have been so zen, but fans are loving this new gentler and kinder version of Carl 2.0.
