Body of man found near war memorial in Surrey town

The body of a man has been found near a town’s war memorial in Surrey.

A passer-by made the discovery in Gostrey Meadow, Farnham, just before 6am this morning.

Detectives are currently treating the death as unexplained.

The area has been closed off to the public, with a blue forensic tent erected over the body.

‘Officers are currently on scene at Gostrey Meadow in Farnham following the discovery of a man’s body earlier this morning,’ a Surrey Police spokesperson said.

‘The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. Gostrey Meadow will be inaccessible to the public for some time.’
