League of Super-Pets Trailer Has A Lot More Superman & Batman
A new trailer for DC's League of Super-Pets has more Superman, story details, and Batman. DC's League of Super-Pets is the first animated feature starring the pets of heroes like Superman and Batman, including Krypto, voiced by Dwayne Johnson, and Ace the Bat-Hound, voiced by Kevin Hart. The film also stars the voice talent of Keanu Reeves as Batman, John Krasinski as Superman, Marc Maron as Lex Luthor, as well as Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Thomas Middleditch, and Ben Schwartz.
Directed by Jared Stern (The LEGO Ninjago Movie) and Sam Levine (Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero), DC's League of Super-Pets sees the canine characters of Krypto and Ace, as well as a diverse group of other pets, including PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle, and Chip the squirrel, dealing with new superpowers, while trying to save their equally super-powered owners. Trailers thus far have teased Krasinski's Superman and Reeves' Batman, which are taking a more humorous approach in the non-DCEU-related animated feature. Johnson and Hart are no strangers to teaming up in a comedic venture, having worked together previously on the Jumanji franchise, as well as 2016's Central Intelligence.
A new trailer for DC's League of Super-Pets (via Warner Bros.) shows off much more of Krasinski's Superman in his interactions with Johnson's Krypto, as well as what ultimately puts Superman in peril, requiring the help of the Super-Pets. Lois Lane makes an appearance in the trailer, which has the famed reporter showing up for a date with Clark Kent. There's also a quick peek at Wonder Woman at one point, with Batman closing out the proceedings. It's the best indicator yet of how the movie will play plot-wise, with much of it resting on their battle with a dangerous little creature named Lulu. Take a look at the trailer below:

Producer Hiram Garcia has said that DC's League of Super-Pets will have a lot of DC Easter eggs and each new trailer has shown just a bit more to prove that point. It's likely that more superheroes will make an appearance throughout the film and many characters in the movie, such as Maron's Lex Luthor, have yet to be seen. Stern has said that the film will be more of a buddy story between Krypto and Ace, but that it will also go all-in on the superhero action, so as to compete with the live-action crowd-pleasers of the genre.
Johnson's Black Adam has been pushed to October, allowing DC's League of Super-Pets to take over the original release date in July, allowing the lighter animated DC fare to enjoy the summer without competition. The cast of Super-Pets is strong and the animation looks solid, but it's unclear if that will be enough to satisfy DC fans in between live-action projects, which will be a seven-month wait in total between The Batman and Black Adam. However, DC's League of Super-Pets will no doubt scratch the itch, while also allowing for some more inviting material to younger audiences, which may be just what WB needs to welcome in the next generation of DC movie fans. DC's League of Super-Pets flies into theaters on July 29, 2022.
