During the introduction segment, the couple revealed that they met when Ariela flew to Ethiopia.
She saw Biniyam at a taxi stand outside her hotel and instantly felt strongly attracted to him. Shortly after that, the couple started dating, and a few months later, Ariela was pregnant. After receiving prenatal care in the United States, Ariela returned to Ethiopia with her mother, Janice Weinberg, to deliver the baby.

In the current season, the former freelance writer admits that her parents have been paying for her 3-bedroom house in Ethiopia and Aviel's nanny. Ariela's dependence on her parents led to an uproar for many 90 Day Fiancé viewers.
At the beginning of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3, Ariela told cameras that her ex-husband Leandro Fosque is visiting her in Ethiopia. Viewers were surprised that the reality star didn't talk to her baby daddy before inviting her ex into their house.
