MANCHESTER CITY new boy Erling Haaland has a shock release clause in his mega contract.

City won the £51million race for Borussia Dortmund’s Norway goal machine after he agreed what’s thought to be a huge five-year contract.

German newspaper Bild reported Haaland, 21, has an arrangement whereby he can leave the Etihad after just two years for €150m (£128m).

However, SunSport understands that while a release clause DOES exist in the contract, those figures and dates are not correct.

Social media reacted to the claim with ‘shock’ – one saying: “The only loser here is City. Crazy!”

The striker’s Dortmund departure was sealed this week after 85 goals in 88 games for the Bundesliga giants.

Those stats made him the world’s most-wanted finisher in the world.

And after City beat off rivals like Real Madrid, a club statement said: “Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022.

“The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player.”

Haaland is thought to have had medical tests in Brussels on Monday connected to the move.

City legend Vincent Kompany, now Anderlecht chief, is thought to have played a key role in setting up the trip.

Dortmund said at the time they had ‘allowed Erling to take care of personal matters’.

It’s understood the ex-RB Salzburg starlet is content with City’s wage offer, which sits within their current pay structure.

Kevin De Bruyne, whose four goals destroyed Wolves on Wednesday night, is thought to be the club’s top earner on around £385,000 a week.
