Mom arrested on murder charges in 9-year-old Brooklyn girl's death
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (PIX11) — Police arrested a Brooklyn woman on murder charges in her 9-year-old daughter's Sunday death.
Shemene Cato was also charged with manslaughter, assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a weapon during her Monday arrest. Her daughter died of multiple blunt force trauma, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner determined.
Officers were called to child's home on Lincoln Place in Crown Heights around 1 p.m. Sunday. Police found the girl unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to her body, according to the NYPD. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
