McDonald’s may open in Russia under a new brand already in June-July

The McDonald’s fast food restaurant chain may resume operations in Russia under a new brand as early as the end of June or early July, RIA Novosti reports citing its sources. It is noted that the deal to sell the American business has already been launched.

It became known on May 19 that McDonald’s business in Russia would be sold to current licensee Alexander Govor. It was reported that he will be able to manage the restaurants under the new brand. At the moment, the entrepreneur manages the operation of 25 franchised restaurants of the chain. McDonald’s expects to keep the existing jobs for at least two years.

About 850 restaurants have closed across Russia, including the very first, which opened in 1990 on Bolshaya Bronnaya in Moscow. It was announced later that McDonald’s may reopen in Russia in June, but under a new brand. It would retain 90% of its suppliers, jobs and, as some experts assure us, even the menu.
