Students at Marin Oaks High School in Novato painted murals on teachers’ doors in preparation for a public show of the artwork on Wednesday.
Marya Bartholomew, the school’s art teacher, oversaw the project. It allowed students to work in partnership with a local artist, Katya McCulloch, to learn how to create a design, sketch it on paper, scale it to size on a door and have a positive impact on the school campus with works of art.
McCulloch is director and teaching artist with the TeamWorks Art Mentoring Program, which has a six-year partnership with Marin Oaks High School to bring its mural arts curriculum to the campus.
