Liverpool signing Carvalho

The transfer of Fabio Carvalho from Fulham to Liverpool is a representation of what is wrong with football at the highest level.

The kid had a terrific season for Fulham; his performances were pivotal in their promotion.

And then, just-like-that, a bigger club comes sniffing and he’s gone. As if Fulham’s bid to retain their Premier League status wasn’t big enough already.

I acknowledge that this is how the transfer market works but it just seems so unfair on Fulham. The lad will, almost-certainly, spend most of the season at Liverpool on the bench. But Fulham can’t compete with what Liverpool would have offered. The gap between ‘the big f*****g 6’ and ‘the rest’ is growing.
Football is becoming boring (well, for those of us that don’t support one of those clubs!).
