Volcanic Tunnels of Reunion Island
Summary Author: Denis Huber
The photo above shows the volcanic depths of Reunion Island located off the coast of Madagascar in the Indiana Ocean. Underground areas can be traversed by innumerable tunnels that were formed by lava flows. These tunnels were created along the region where the upper crust cooled as the magma continued its course. Some of these passageways are of a larger diameter and can be visited by adventurers. Photo taken on March 25, 2022.
