NW 500 Mixed Masters success!
Turned out to be as much about mental arithmetic as the hockey, the rules required a maths professor pitch side to crunch numbers and constantly ADD or SUBTRACT ages of subbing players….so early on, we decided to weigh each other up and agree that we all looked equally ancient.
From drawing the first game against a strong Alderley squad, the SINES were good, without going off at a TANGENT, once we learnt each other’s names, we were flying.
We were in our PRIME, and without being MEAN to the oppo, we deserved to win all subsequent games. At one point, I was at sixes and sevens, having overlooked the pitch booking for a Monday game. My heart sank a FRACTION as it became apparent that Monday night is football night at Phoenix, thankfully only half an hour late, we pushed off at Bramhall High against Deeside. They were most impressed at our conjouring a pitch with such late notice. MINUS points for me but on the PLUS side, another win, what were the ODDS on that? EVEN I didn’t expect such an outcome.
We only travelled away once, to play Winnington, ABbACUS blaring on the radio, by my CALCULATION, a great warm up in the COUNTDOWN to the match.
The FIGURES speak for themselves, the winning FORMULA was SQUARE (root) passing to the power of ten, ACUTE angles in the D, strong LINEAR balls, no DEVIATION or NEGATIVE mindSETS. No OBTUSE comments to the umpires.
We stuck to a certain RATIO of men and women and unDIVIDED in that format, have only gone and blown the bloody doors off. Undefeated top of the league, thanks to all who played, it’s been fantastic to meet and play with you all. UnPARALLELed in our VECTORy.
To SUM up, by my RECKONING, I GAUSS it’s time to thank Toby and Nat for umpiring.
