CORONATION Street star Samia Longchambon has revealed her surprise back-up career plan if she quits the soap.

The actress – who has played Maria Connor on the ITV show since 2000 – said she’s a qualified reflexologist and would pick that up again if “everything goes pear-shaped”.

The TV favourite, 39, opened up about her anxiety battle last year after she successfully completed a diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy.

Samia explained that her own struggles with anxiety motivated her to learn about new kinds of therapies.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun TV Mag about a career change, Samia said: “I did that last year because, like I say, I wasn’t too busy at Corrie and it was something that I really always fancied learning more about.

“I’ve actually had CBT therapy myself for anxiety so I thought it would be interesting to look at it from the other side, the therapy side of it.

“I’m not sorry I did that, it’s something I’m really, really interested in.”

Sami continued: “I could take it further, I’ve done the foundation of it now so I could definitely add to it in the future.

“You never know. I love courses. A few years ago, I did my reflexology course.

“I’m a qualified reflexologist. If everything goes pear-shaped I can always pick that up again.”

The soap star said she brushes up on her techniques regularly and has singed up to do an Indian head massage course.

Sami has also had her eyes on a directing role, saying: I was thinking of studying directing, working behind the camera.

“That was what my back up plan was going to be, but I’m probably a bit too mature now to go to uni.

“It’s actually a bit part of being in front of the camera, knowing what’s going on behind the camera. It’s always interested me, how
directors work.”

Meanwhile, life in the public eye as a local politician is getting dangerous for Maria Connor.

The Coronation Street resident finds out someone is watching her every move through a tracking device.

The sassy hairdresser found out a deep-fake video had been made to humiliate her, in which her face was added to the body of an unknown naked woman, and the harassment won’t stop there.

Coming up next week, Maria is nervous about going to a lunch meeting on her own and, picking up on her mood, Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) offers to accompany her.

But when Jimmy approaches her and warns her to keep her nose out of matters she wouldn’t understand, Maria is considerably shaken and nothing can be done about it.

To make matters all the more harrowing, a creepy guy tells Maria how much he enjoyed her online video.
