Tory MP Jamie Wallis found guilty of various driving charges

Tory MP Jamie Wallis has been banned from driving and fined £2,500 for driving offences linked to a late-night crash in his Welsh constituency last year.

The 38-year-old, who represents Bridgend, was driving his Mercedes E-class saloon when it hit a lamppost and telegraph pole in Llanbethian on November 28.

Residents investigating the noise said he walked away from the scene when they mentioned calling the police and saw him being picked up by a Land Rover.

They did not recognise him but one provided a description of ‘a white male wearing a white long-sleeve top which was tight to the body, a black leather PVC mini-skirt, tights, dark shoes with a high heel and a pearl necklace’.

He was found the next morning naked in bed wearing make-up, with the black leather skirt and pearl necklace on the floor beside him.

Wallis became the first British MP to come out as trans in March, when he revealed he had been blackmailed over the issue by someone close to him.

The MP, who said he was continuing to use he/him pronouns for the time being, denied failing to stop, failing to report a road traffic collision, driving without due care and attention and leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position.

He told the court he had been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after being raped.

His clothing and appearance in the aftermath of the crash and the following morning were raised as part of the prosecution’s case that he was the person driving the car.
