Euxton Villa V Chester FC XI - Match Thread #3 - Pre-Season Friendly -

The games keep on coming as a Chester FC XI make the trip to Lancashire to play Euxton Villa away tonight where we look to bounce back from Saturday’s slender defeat. I reckon tonight’s side will consist of a mixture of academy graduates, fringe players, and maybe even some players from our youth team, because our more experienced players deserve a rest as they will be playing against another EFL side this coming Saturday in Morecambe.

Our last match was on Saturday as we lost 0-1 at home against Rochdale in our first home pre-season friendly of the season where we put in a decent shift. We made a good account of ourselves in the first-period as we created a couple of decent openings, while we kept Rochdale at bay at the other end. It remained goalless at half-time as neither side could quite find the net. Meanwhile, the second-half was a bit more lively as it included a goal and an agonising woodwork hit from our part. Nine minutes into the half Devante Rodney capitalised on a lapse in concentration to slam in - making it 0-1 to Rochdale. With 14 minutes remaining Iwan Murray was ever so close to equalising for us, but he could only smash a shot against the crossbar from six yards out. As a result, we were consigned to our first defeat of pre-season.

Euxton Villa play in the North West Counties Football League Division One North having been promoted from the West Lancashire Football League Premier Division last campaign. They were founded back in 1907 as Euxton, but it was only until 1963 when they were renamed as Euxton Villa. It will be interesting to see how the Lancashire side will cope with playing Step 6 football this upcoming campaign.

Looking forward to this evening as it is a football fix after all, and it will be a good test for our younger players against a senior Euxton Villa team. It is another new ground to visit too so hopefully our lads will put in a strong performance as we look to maintain our unbeaten pre-season away record. Up The Seals ????⚪️????⚪️!
