Man Utd ‘confident’ about Lisandro Martinez transfer and set for talks with Ajax as defender pushes for deal
MANCHESTER UNITED are “confident” they can seal a deal for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, according to reports.
The Argentine was previously heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, although United now appear more likely to win the race.
Boss Erik ten Hag is keen to bolster his defence by reuniting with the Ajax ace.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Martinez is “pushing” Ajax to let him leave this summer.
The Italian adds that United are “confident” in getting a deal done and could draw up a contract for the centre-back in the coming week.
Ten Hag’s side have reportedly had a £42million bid rejected for the 5ft 9in ace.

Ajax are claimed to want £51m for their in-demand star.
Ten Hag worked with Martinez for three years in Amsterdam, with the duo winning two Eredivisie titles together.
United chiefs are also working on a deal for Ajax old boy Frenkie de Jong.
Chief executive Richard Arnold and director of football John Murtough have jetted out to Barcelona to try and accelerate a move.

The Red Devils, minus wantaway star Cristiano Ronaldo, are currently on pre-season duty in Thailand.
They take on Liverpool in Bangkok later today, before jetting out to Melbourne later this week.
