I’m midsize and was so excited to try Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS shapewear… safe to say I won’t be rebuying
KIM Kardashian’s SKIMS shapewear brand has become increasingly popular since it launched.
But now one woman says that perhaps the hype surrounding this brand is somewhat undeserved.
TikToker @colossiaa, posted on the video app sharing her small SKIMS haul, which she says was ultimately rather disappointing.
“I really wanted to get this and try it on because shapewear literally saves my life,” says the TikToker, “and I haven’t really seen that many girls with my body type try it on.”
Adding: “Even if they’re bigger, or a bit heavier, they still have the hourglass figure, which I do not.”
First she tries on a bodysuit, which she wears under a maxi dress.

“I don’t like it,” she quickly announces, adding that “it’s not giving, what it’s supposed to give.”
The fashionista adds that she’s super bloated at the moment and perhaps that’s why, but it’s still not really slimming anything down.
Next she tries on the other item in her order, a thong that is also supposed to work as shapewear to slim down the wearer.
Before trying these on she changes into a different dress, adding: “As you can tell, you can really see my midsection, and my muffin top.”

When she tries on the thong there’s not really much change, leading to @colossiaa saying that she’s also disappointed with this item too.
She says that this thong actually does the opposite of what shapewear is supposed to do, adding that it makes her midsection stand out even more.
Comments were full of advice, with some saying that it may work better if she orders a size down.
Others shared their own experiences with shapewear, with one writing: “Ok this is my body type and I hate body shapers cause they make me look so bloated and make my square shape worse.”

A second added: “I had the same issue with skims, I don’t get the hype. I prefer the Spanx brand from Nordstrom, the one with shorts.”
“I have the SAME exact body type as you and no shapewear from ANY brand works for me at all unless it has the hip dip pads,” wrote a third.
