‘Boxing is dying’ – Jake Paul claims Tyson Fury is ‘afraid’ to fight Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk
JAKE PAUL believes the sport of boxing is “dying” a slow death due to a lack of super-fights being made – and he reckons Tyson Fury is partly to blame.
Boxing fans across the world are waiting with bated breath for legacy fights between Anthony Joshua and Fury and Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford to come to fruition.
The lack of unification and undisputed bouts being made has turned some fans off the sport,
And YouTuber turned boxer Paul believes the collapse of Fury vs Joshua – which he blames on the former – highlights the sport’s troubles.
During an appearance on The MMA Hour, he said: “Boxing was a dying sport before I came and saved the entire sport basically single-handedly.

“This is why boxing is dying, because these fights aren’t mandatory.”
Paul, 25, is gearing up for a short-notice fight with Hasim Rahman Jr, a late replacement for Tommy Fury, on August 6.
But a last-minute purse demand from Gold Blooded – the son of former heavyweight champ Hasim Sr – is threatening to scupper the bout.
The Problem Child said: “None of these guys actually really want to fight, is what I’m coming to find out.

“Hasim Rahman Jr actually right now is trying to renegotiate his contract.
“So he signed a contract last week for 10 times more than he’s ever been paid for any one of his fights, and now, boom, fast-forward one week, he’s trying to renegotiate.
“He’s trying to suck more money out of the fight, he’s doing anything he can to try and claw to make the money, because I think he realizes the consequences of what might happen. I think he’s actually scared to fight me.

“A lot of these guys are excited by the money at first, but when it comes time to start training and getting into camp, they all chicken out.
“Who knows if this fight’s even gonna happen?”
