US forces killed a leader of the Islamic State in Syria. On July 12, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces reported on the elimination of Mahir al-Akal. He was killed as a result of a drone attack.
At noon, a UAV hit a motorcycle on the outskirts of Jinderis in northwest Syria. The deceased was found with an ID card in the name of Khalid Subaih.
Al-Agal was one of the group’s top five leaders, and the strike also targeted one of his deputies, US officials claimed. Local sources report that the second person traveling with al-Gal survived, but was seriously injured.
