So: who has to hit the ground running this season?
Now let's forget who has been forced to play where (ie: James as a #9, Koch as a DM etc) but who, in your mind still has to convince us that he is worthy of still being here? I could have made this a Poll couldn't I but I would rather get peoples opinions rather than votes. I want us to try and ignore that a lot of players I mentioned were played out of position and judge them on where they ought to play. Like Brian Clough, I'm a firm believer in a player does a specific job in a specific position. Revie, with the exception of the fabulous Paul Madeley was pretty much of that belief too...
On the back of a very difficult season, I've singled out the players that maybe owe us an explanation and need to show us why we bought them regardless of last seasons disappointments. I'll kick us off on this one:
Rodrigo: has to show us why we paid £27m for him.
James: again, a player who has to justify why we paid that much for him (I think we overpaid).
Llorente: very highly regarded in Europe. I'd want him to show us why.
Koch: same as Llorente (great potential as a CB).
Firpo: same as Rodrigo for me. Has to show us why we bought him.
I'm pretty much happy with the players we still have with the exception of Costa: he should just go.
I have not listed any of our new signings as all of them will be keenly watched/judged but in all fairness, we have to give them time to bed-in. I'm very happy with all of the signings we've made...
