Report: Tottenham closing in on Djed Spence – Agreement tipped for this weekend
Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence and an agreement could be reached by the weekend, according to Sky Sports.
The report states Spurs remain in advanced talks regarding the 21-year-old wing-back with discussions focused around a £15 million deal plus potential add-ons.
Spurs’ interest in Spence has been well documented this summer, although they have had issues striking an agreement with Middlesbrough about the transfer fee (Evening Standard).
His future was made even clearer when he was left out of the Boro squad for their recent pre-season friendly against National League side York and the travelling party for their training camp in Portugal (TeessideLive).
Manager Chris Wilder also told TeessideLive he has removed himself from talks, admitting he has left negotiations in the hands of Middlesbrough’s owner and chief executive.
Spence first attracted attention after impressing on loan at Nottingham Forest last season, emerging as a fundamental piece of the squad which secured promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

The Spence saga has rumbled on long enough now and this really should have been completed a long time ago.
It would have been ideal if he was signed for the pre-season tour of South Korea but Spurs have to just accept it will happen a bit later than they hoped.
