Person on tracks delays BART service between San Leandro and Hayward

BART experienced  a major delay for almost an hour Tuesday morning before police could  get a person off the tracks between the Bay Fair station in San Leandro and the Hayward station, officials said.

Officials have not yet said if the person is a man or woman. The person was not injured

At 10:26 a.m. BART spokesperson Anna Duckworth said  the person was out of the trackway and that the system was returning to normal service.

Somebody first spotted the person about 9:30 a.m. walking on the tracks on the Berryessa line.

How the person got on the tracks was not immediately known.

Before police got the person off the track AC Transit was  providing mutual aid between Bay Fair and Hayward on Bus 10 and Bus 99 between Hayward and Fremont stations.
