Famed Chilean singer-songwriter Mon Laferte visits Stanford
Mon Laferte is coming to the Bay Area.
The acclaimed Chilean singer-songwriter, who reportedly now lives in Mexico, performs July 24 at the lovely Frost Amphitheater on the Stanford University campus.
A versatile talent, known for drawing from pop, alt-rock, salsa and a number of other styles in her songbook, Laferte has been making music since childhood.
She was just 20-years old when her 2003 debut, “La Chica de Rojo,” was released and provided the world with such early hits as “Corazón Bandido,” “Yo sin tu amor” and “Maldita Ignorancia.”
Laferte has kept right on releasing popular albums over the years, including the multiplatium-selling efforts “La Trenza” (2017) and “Norma” (2018).
She’s been rewarded for efforts with a number of Latin Grammy Awards, including the 2021 trophy for best singer-songwriter album for her seventh full-length outing, “Seis.”
Laferte’s most recent album is “1940 Carmen,” a collection of Spanish and English language songs that was recorded last year in Los Angeles.
