Man, 29, charged with murder after wife Abi Fisher, 29, found dead in undergrowth by roadside
COPS have charged a man with murder after his wife Abi Fisher, 29, was found dead in undergrowth by a roadside.
The mum-of-one vanished from Castleford in Yorkshire shortly before midnight on Friday.
Her family told police that she didn’t tell anyone where she was going when she left that night.
West Yorkshire Police launched a missing person investigation and were helped by the Castleford community to conduct searches to find the school teacher.
On Monday, July 11, Abi’s body was found in undergrowth off Southmoor Road near Brierley in South Yorkshire.
Tonight, police have charged Abi Fisher’s husband Matthew Fisher, 29, with her murder.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Matthew Fisher, 29, of Walton Park Street, Castleford, has been charged with murder.
“He has been remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.”
Abi, who has been described as “beautiful”, and “amazing”, married Matthew Fisher in 2017, and the pair had a baby girl just 6 months ago.
Tributes have poured in for the West Yorkshire mum, with many saying “it is a cruel world”.

One school mum said: “Mrs Abi Fisher, a teacher at my daughter’s school, an absolutely amazing person.”
Family member Alex Johnson said: “I have no words.”
Jordan Kenworthy said: “Abi was such a nice lass. Went to school with her and she wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
Hayley Power added: “Abi was a wonderful person and an amazing teacher to the children in our school. Unbelievably kind and caring loved all her colleagues and the children in school.”
Abi’s family has been updated. They are being supported by specially-trained officers.
They had contacted police with their fears – and warned it was “completely out of character” for Abi to disappear.
Anyone who has driven on the B6273 Southmoor Road between Hemsworth and Great Houghton from 8.15am and 9.15am on Saturday has been urged to get in touch with officers.
Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Swift, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said many locals had joined searches for Abi.
The force’s social media appeal for information was shared more than 2,000 times.
“On behalf of the police and Abi’s family, I would like to express our thanks to everyone who has assisted in the search,” he said.
“We know that there has been a real community effort to find her and that this update will be upsetting for many.
“The body has not yet been formally identified and we will update in due course when this has been confirmed.
“We are carrying out extensive enquiries.
“As part of that, we are appealing to the public to help us by providing any information that could help our investigation.
“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage from Southmoor Road on Saturday morning and have set up a specific portal for footage to be submitted to.”
