Married teacher cleared of having sex with 15-year-old pupil
A MARRIED teacher has been cleared of having sex with an obsessed 15-year-old pupil.
Rebecca Whitehurst, 46, was accused of sharing explicit text messages, meeting the boy outside school and engaging in sexual activity with him in the back of her Volvo.
But a court heard how the pupil, who sent naked pictures of himself, thought he was in love with Whitehurst.
The boy had mental health problems and was said to have faked the texts as he manufactured the allegations in revenge for the teacher rejecting his advances.
Whitehurst, of Lymm, Cheshire, was found not guilty at Manchester crown court yesterday of three child sex charges.
She told the court she rejected his advances but said: “I was embarrassed, and ashamed that I mismanaged the situation.”
