Dockers kick off season at Steyning
We will begin our 2022/23 Southern Combination Football League Premier Division campaign with three away matches, as the new 3G pitch goes through its final stages of installation.
The season-long fixture list was released by the league on Tuesday morning and sees us travel to Steyning Town (Saturday 30th July), Crawley Down Gatwick (Saturday 13th August) and AFC Uckfield Town (Tuesday 16th August) in our first three, before the hotly anticipated first home fixture against Little Common on the new turf comes on Tuesday 23rd August.
We also have away ties in the two FA competitions in August; travelling to Canterbury City on Saturday 6th in the FA Cup and then more locally to Hailsham Town in the FA Vase on Saturday 27th.
Should progress be made in the FA Cup then a further away fixture awaits against either Sheppey United or Athletic Newham on Saturday 20th.
The local derbies between Newhaven and Peacehaven are in their usual Christmas and Easter slots, with us hosting the Boxing Day fixture on Monday 26th December and then Peacehaven hosting on Easter Monday 10th April.
Other notable dates during the season sees us host last season’s runners-up Saltdean United on Bank Holiday Monday 29th August, before travelling to Hill Park for the return fixture on Monday 2nd January – our first fixture of 2023.
There are three new teams to the league this season – Roffey and Midhurst & Easebourne were both promoted from Division One and Crowborough Athletic have returned to the SCFL after a sideways move by the FA.
We will travel to Roffey on Saturday 3rd September and to Crowborough on Saturday 1st October, before hosting Midhurst on Saturday 26th November. The reverse fixtures are on three consecutive Saturdays in February and March.
Our last away fixture of the season will be at Eastbourne Town on Saturday 15th April, before the season concludes with a home match against Loxwood on Saturday 22nd April.
A full list of fixtures can be found here. As always, some fixtures will be subject to change.
