Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Tuesday new temporary taxes on energy companies and financial institutions in 2023 and 2024 to ease the effect of inflation. The government expects levies on both financial institutions and power firms to collect €3.5bn per year. "We need to share the burden of this crisis justly, and not like the last one, which fell on top of the most vulnerable," Sanchez said.
