Researchers have developed a noninvasive method to identify a potential cause of hypertension with a drastic reduction in radiation exposure, a new study shows. The fluorine-based reagent detects whether the hormone aldosterone is being produced abnormally, which is a possible sign of an adrenal adenoma, a tumor that can cause hypertension and can be removed surgically.
