Burnley set to sign Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen on season-long loan transfer as Vincent Kompany continues rebuild
CHELSEA youngster Ian Maatsen will reportedly head out on loan to Burnley.
Maatsen, 20, is expected to complete a medical at Turf Moor on Thursday.
The Athletic report that a season-long loan has been agreed between the two clubs.
The transfer should be finalised “by the weekend” as Vincent Kompany looks to replace recent departures.
Nathan Collins and James Tarkowski have both left the Clarets in recent weeks.
Maatsen will provide Kompany with a versatile defensive option in the aim to take Burnley back to the Premier League.

The left-back spent last season away from West London, on loan at Championship outfit Coventry.
He played 42 times, scoring three times and claiming one assist.
In the 2020-21 campaign he was on loan at Charlton in League One, where he became a regular at the Valley.
The Dutchman has benefited from those loans and was recently called up the to Netherlands’ Under-21 side.

It was said that he’d turned down a move to boyhood club Feyenoord in order to fight for his future at Stamford Bridge.
But if Maatsen does stay at Chelsea this season his route to the first-team could be blocked by the more experienced Ben Chillwell and Marcos Alonso.
Meanwhile, the Blues have announced the £50million signing of Raheem Sterling after he jetted out to Los Angeles to join his new team-mates.
The 27-year-old arrives on a five-year contract, with the option for a further year.
