One dead after fiery vehicle crash in Antioch
ANTIOCH — A person died Thursday in a fiery crash involving two vehicles, police said.
Details of the crash were not available immediately, but the fatality was confirmed by Antioch police spokesman Officer Darryl Saffold.
According to Saffold, two cars were involved and one wound up hitting a tree and catching flames. Police were investigating whether the two cars may have been racing or if there was road rage involved, Saffold said.
Police at 10:45 a.m. posted on social media that they’d closed a one-mile stretch of James Donlon Boulevard between Contra Loma Boulevard and Rio Grande Drive to investigate. The closure is expected to last several hours.
Police said they would release more details when they have them.
