Kansas Republican candidate Sawyer laughs at threats over LGBTQ issues

0

Something strange happened in Marion County, Kansas, at a recent Republican county party meeting. Strange as in this probably happens all the time, you just don’t hear about it. Katie Sawyer, the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, addressed the audience and spoke forcefully about the dangers of transgender athletes in Kansas high school athletics. She didn’t provide any actual proof, but she did manage to scare a bunch of senior citizens, and the results were to be expected.

Speaking to the crowd, the grumble in the audience was clear: “I think she oughta change the lock on her office door,” referring to Kelly. Another man chimed in, “If she was ever at the Capitol, we might.” Republicans worked hard to dismiss this, saying it meant something else entirely; however, the statement of “if she was ever at the capitol” is present tense, so assuming they passed high school English, they probably should understand the threat was immediate, not speaking about future elections.
