Horse racing tips: Templegate NAP has looked an absolute monster and can land the big one at Ascot on Saturday

0

TEMPLEGATE takes on a massive Saturday of action confident of finding you some winners – and building the bank for Goodwood next week.

Read on for our man’s top tips and back a horse by clicking their odds.

Don’t forget to check out his complete guide to all the TV action below and read his breakdown on the big race at 3.35pm.

WESTOVER (3.35 Ascot, nap)

He couldn’t have been more impressive when winning the Irish Derby by seven lengths. That built on his unlucky effort at Epsom where he came home like a train in third behind Desert Crown.

He takes on stronger opposition than he faced at The Curragh but looks as though there’s plenty more to come and Colin Keane can guide him to another big win.

LEZOO (1.50 Ascot, nb)

She was a good Listed winner at Newmarket before being hampered when a close second to Mawj in a Group 2 there last time. She likes this trip on fast ground and can strike again under Frankie.

DUBAI FUTURE (3.15 York, treble)

He was impressive when hammering his rivals in the Wolverton at Royal Ascot last time out. That was his first UK win in almost three years but he didn’t have to get out of first gear and looks well up to this higher class.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

ASCOT

1.50

LEZOO was a good Listed winner at Newmarket before being hampered when a close second to Mawj in a Group 2 there last time.

She likes this trip on fast ground and can strike again under Frankie.

Breege is taking a big hike in class after a close second at Pontefract but has more to come.

Royal Charter had to battle for a Newmarket maiden win on debut but William Haggas’s filly will improve a bundle.

Glenlaurel showed lots of potential when scoring on debut at Thirsk and has place claims over an ideal distance.

2.25

ZANBAQ took her form to the next level when a close second in the 28-runner Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot over this trip.

That was just her fourth run and Roger Varian’s filly looks capable of a lot better.

German raider Novemba held her own when fourth in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at the Royal meeting.

She likes this trip and has solid place claims.

Jumbly was beaten just two lengths in the French Guineas and was a close second when trying this class at Newbury in April. She has enough ability to figure.

Oscula is proving very consistent at Listed level and William Buick will try to nick this from the front.

She needs a bit more but could hold on for a place. Kind Gesture won a maiden nicely but this is a fair bit tougher.

3.00

DARK SHIFT was impressive when winning the Royal Hunt Cup and he loves Ascot and a big field.

He’s up 6lb but his liking for the track and smooth cruising style can see him home over a furlong shorter under William Buick.

Fresh couldn’t get a run when ninth after being well backed in the Wokingham following a good fourth over C&D in the Victoria Cup. He looks a big danger.

Tactical was a solid sixth in the Buckingham Palace Stakes over this trip before a solid effort in the Group 2 Summer Mile. He can figure.

Bless Him got the better of Ropey Guest in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket but the latter prefers Ascot and has every chance of turning that form around under a top 5lb claimer.

Jumby was a good third in that race and is another who goes well here.

3.35

WESTOVER couldn’t have been more impressive when winning the Irish Derby by seven lengths.

That built on his unlucky effort at Epsom where he came home like a train in third behind Desert Crown.

He takes on stronger opposition than he faced at The Curragh but looks as though there’s plenty more to come and Colin Keane can guide him to another big win.

As a three-year-old he is receiving weight from the older horses, which can make a difference.

That also applies to Emily Upjohn who is getting an even bigger allowance as a three-year-old filly.

She was another hard-luck story at Epsom after badly missing the break in the Oaks.

She came home strongly and was just beaten on the nod on the line.

That was a good effort but she did have enough time to get past the Ballydoyle winner who pulled out a little bit more when challenged.

Emily Upjohn will have to step up on that effort but it was her first crack at this trip so there should be more to come.

Mishriff would ideally want two furlongs less but was second in this 12 months ago and retains plenty of class at five.

He was a bit unlucky when a super second giving weight away in the Eclipse last time.

German hope Torquator Tasso has won three Group 1s, including the Arc, so isn’t here for a day out and is best over this distance.

He can outrun his long odds but his best form has been in the mud.

YORK

2.05

VAL DE TRAVERS had almost three lengths in hand when scooting in at Musselburgh and can win this sprint for jump jockeys.

He likes this trip and likes to keep things simple from the front.

Primo’s Comet is running as well as ever and kept going to score just four days ago.

He has a chance under a penalty in his current form.

Stone Circle is looking for a hat-trick after wins at Nottingham and Chepstow.

He’s 10lb higher than the first success but can’t be ignored.

Ginger Jam has been knocking on the door and was less than a length away at Beverley latest. He’s got every chance from the same mark.

Thegreatestshowman is dropping in class after a fair effort at Newmarket.

He is best over this trip and copes well with a big field.

Marnie James goes well here and has had a little help from the handicapper and similar comments apply to Eeh Bah Gum who was a solid second here 15 days ago.

2.40

VENTUROUS comes from behind so needs luck but got it when winning this 12 months ago and has strong claims from 2lb lower in the weights.

He’s been in good form with a hampered sixth in a big field at Ascot last time.

If things go well he can land this nice prize again.

Gale Force Maya was a cracking third in a Group 3 here last time on the back of a smooth handicap win.

She’s a fair 5lb higher than that victory and loves this trip on firm.

Silver Samurai didn’t get a run when fancied for the Wokingham on the back of good wins at Haydock and Newbury.

He is a strong traveller who should make his presence felt here.

Nationwide has few miles on the clock and followed a winning hat-trick on the all-weather with a Haydock third to Silver Samurai.

He can build on that and has place claims.

Mondammej looks a threat too after a Listed third over 5f here two Saturdays ago.

Lucky Man was a close second here last month and should have more to offer.

3.15

DUBAI FUTURE was impressive when hammering his rivals in the Wolverton at Royal Ascot last time out.

That was his first UK win in almost three years but he didn’t have to get out of first gear and looks well up to this higher class.

This trip on fast ground is ideal and Adam Kirby can steer him home for Saeed Bin Suroor.

Dubai Honour is a Group 1 performer on his day and was second in the Champion Stakes at Ascot in October.

He would ideally like a little bit of juice in the ground but his proven class makes him a danger even in these quick conditions.

Claymore has run just four times but was an impressive winner of the Hampton Court Stakes over this trip at Royal Ascot last time.

He relished moving up from a mile and has more to offer. Fast ground suits and he looks a threat too.

Old favourite Sir Busker steps down from Group 1 level after a fair run behind Baaeed at Royal Ascot.

He hasn’t won for two years and is best over a mile so this looks a pretty tall order.
