Kameda and Encarnacion make weight!
Tomorrow fight fans in Kobe will get the chance to see a small yet notable card from Shinsei Gym. The card is really built around the main event, which will see former world champion Tomoki Kameda (38-3, 20) [亀田和毅] battle against the hard hitting Dominican fighter William Encarnacion (19-3, 15).
Today, ahead of their bout, the two men took part in their weigh in for the bout, which is being fought at Featherweight.
On the scales neither man had any issues at all making weight.
Kameda, who is now campaigning at Featherweight after having previously made his name at Bantamweight and Super Bantamweight, came in bang on the divisional limit. He looked in great shape at the weight, and seemed like his body had developed into that of a fully fledged Featherweight. Sadly however we do wonder about his power at the weight, especially given he seemed to lack power at the top level at Bantweight, never mind Super Bantamweight. If he wins here he stated that he would like a big fight at Featherweight.
As for Encarnacion, he was well under the limit, coming in at 125.25lbs. He spoke respectfully of Kameda, explaining he was a good fighter, but was also incredibly confident and stated that he was going to knockout out Kameda with a single shot.
