The Hotel Inspector fans fume ‘ugly’ rooms ‘make their hearts sink’ – but the owners have the last laugh
CHANNEL 5 viewers are fuming after seeing such “ugly” rooms on last night’s episode of The Hotel Inspector.
On Thursday night’s episode of The Hotel Inspector Alex Polizzi visited a Newcastle restaurant and hotel. The rooms had “muddy brown” walls which viewers said made “their hearts sink.”
Famed hotel inspector Alex Polizzi, 50, first visited Michelangelo’s, an Italian restaurant and hotel on the outskirts of Newcastle, in 2019.
The owner, Paulo, runs the restaurant and hotel with the help of his younger brother Giacomo, who is the more business minded of the pair.
Introducing the episode, Alex explained: “The two brothers had sacrificed everything to keep Michelangelo’s ticking along, but had been completely ignoring almost half of the business.”
Their successful restaurant downstairs had been keeping them afloat, but Paulo still owed almost half a million pounds on the property, which was more than he bought it for 20 years earlier.
Last night’s episode began with footage of Alex visiting the property in 2019, where she discovered awful, “ugly” rooms.
“When I came here last time they had ten bedrooms that were painted an awful muddy brown colour,” she explained. However, she added that the property definitely had promise. “They had no idea what a gold mine they were sitting on,” she said.

However, some viewers didn’t wait to find out if Alex was able to help transform the hotel into a gold mine before they took to Twitter to comment on the appalling by the state of the rooms.
“Aww this episode is making me sad already #thehotelinspector,” one viewer said only minutes into the episode.
“Those rooms look dated #thehotelinspector,” added a second viewer.
A third said: “It’s amazing how much ugliness can make your heart sink #thehotelinspector.”

However, had they waited until the end of the episode, they would have seen that it was Paulo and Giacomo who had the last laugh.
By the end of the episode, Michelangelo’s ten bedrooms had been transformed from drab to fab. They even turned one room into a bridal suite.
“I love Alex Polizzi anyway, but seeing this episode of #thehotelinspector in Newcastle is fab. Such a lovely turnaround,” one fan commented after the reveal.
“What a lovely episode of #TheHotelInspector – so uplifting and a very happy ending,” added another.

Alex was incredibly pleased with the transformation, so much so that another Hotel Inspector fan said they don’t think they’ve ever seen Alex so happy.
“Feel good episode of #thehotelinspector tonight, these brothers deserve it all!!” concluded another viewer.
Season 17 of The Hotel Inspector continues next Thursday on Channel 5 at 9pm.
