[FRND] Union Rescue Mission Night scheduled for Sept. 24
WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University Athletics has tabbed Sept. 24 as "Union Rescue Mission" night to coincide with the home football game that evening vs. the University of Saint Mary Spires. Kickoff is set for 6 pm at Adair-Austin Stadium.
"This summer, Keith Townsend (Friends FCA Representative) and I visited the Union Rescue Mission," said Dr. Rob Ramseyer, Friends University Associate VP of Athletics. "I was inspired by all the different and important work and ministries they are doing. We are proud to partner with them to bring awareness, and hopefully significant financial support, to their organization at our game on September 24."
For every ticket sold, $1 will benefit the Union Rescue Mission, whose mission is to "Represent the love of Jesus while walking alongside people experiencing homelessness, poverty, addictions or other life challenges."
The organization works 24/7 to restore men through the love of Jesus Christ. More than 300 meals are served everyday at URM, with about 120 men staying on campus nightly.
"We at the Union Rescue Mission are so glad to partner with Friends University in the rescue, recovery, restoration and re-engagement of men. The men in our program are looking forward to attending the game and being a part of what looks to be an exciting season for Falcon football," said Rick Neubauer, Director of Ministry.
