In a letter dated August 7, the NSD said the tenure of Prasad as registrar was "short-closed with immediate effect, and that he will be relieved with effect from August 8 after his leave to report to the Registrar, University of Delhi". Prasad has shot back saying he was being made a "scapegoat as the institution was acting under the pressure of students who did not want to participate in a cultural event that was in line with the government's ongoing Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav and Har Ghar Tiranga celebrations".
