Faf du Plessis Returns to Chennai Super Kings For Cricket South Africa League
New Delhi: The Chennai Super Kings franchise has decided to rope in former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis for the Cricket South Africa League (CSA), according to a report in Cricbuzz. While six franchises has not revealed any of their star signings due to a confidentiality clause but it is learnt that Du Plessis will be back with the Yellow Army for the newly-formed league.
The former South Africa captain was a part of the Chennai outfit for close to a decade (2011-2021) barring a couple of seasons when CSK was suspended in 2016 – 2017. Du Plessis is now a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore outfit since 2022 since he was not retained nor bought in the auctions by CSK. He was also handed the leadership of the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, have bought Pretoria and Sunrisers Hyderabad have bought Port Elizabeth teams, both of which have decided to retain their South African players in the league, namely Anrich Nortje and Aiden Markram respectively. Paarl, owned by Rajasthan Royals, have decided to retain Jos Buttler while Lucknow Super Giants have retained Quinton de Kock, as per the report.
For Mumbai Indians, who revealed their CSA league franchises’ name yesterday, MI Cape Town have reportedly roped in some of the biggest names in T20 cricket, including Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan. The Mumbai Indians owned team will be donning their blue and gold jersey, similar to the Mumbai Indians jersey in the tournament.
