If some of our previous Stoke City players, such as the two Taylor’s (Joel and Connor) are anything to go by, then the signing of Kieran should turn out to be a good addition. Due to both Jamie Morgan and now Kevin Roberts being out injured we currently have no match-fit right backs available, so I am pleased that Calum McIntyre has acted swiftly to bring Coates in ahead of Saturday’s clash against Brackley Town. What’s all the more important about this signing is that Kieran can operate anywhere across the back four, so once everybody is back fit again we should have plenty of strength in depth and competition for places. For the time being though I expect Kieran to fill the void at right back, which will save Calum from forcing the likes of Ollie Heywood to be playing out of position again, so I look forward to seeing what Kieran can offer for us. Going by Calum’s description of him he sounds a bit like Joel Taylor, so if Kieran is half as good as him then we have landed a gem.
