Did Trump recognize possibilty of violence on Jan. 6, 2021?

In response to the recent letter about the column Mary Murphy’s column regarding the Jan. 6 committee, I’m curious about the claim that President Trump offered 10.000 National Guard Troops. I appreciate that The Herald’s opinion editor pointed out the fact-checkers who rated the claim as false. I do have to wonder though why anyone would think Trump would have offered those troops? The claim from the right was that he didn’t know that it was going to get violent, correct? Why then would he think they were needed?
