A new Walnut Creek bakery with pavlova, prosciutto sticks and pretzel-wrapped hot dogs
There’s yet another new bakery in Contra Costa County with unique savory and sweet offerings.
Danville’s Indonesian-themed gem, East Bay Bakery, opened a few weeks ago to throngs of croissant fans. Now, European Delights Bakery, which is located at 2236A Oak Grove Road in Walnut Creek, is reviving the Citrus Marketplace with a comprehensive menu that includes freshly-baked muffins, cakes, pretzels, sweet and savory brioches and hard-to-find treats, like eggplant pastries and a Romanian pretzel-wrapped hot dog called a covridog.
The family-owned bakery, which opened in late July, offers an impressive lineup of brioches — mushroom, feta and spinach, berry — starting at $5 each and morning buns brimming with honey and walnuts or poppy seeds ($6 each). Also look for carrot or oatmeal muffins ($5), fresh fruit pavlova ($4.75-$9.75) and another Romanian dish, a cheese-stuffed pastry called a poale-n-brau.
European Delights is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and until 4 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Find more information at https://european-delights.com.
