I’m a laundry pro – stop using fabric softener, the $2 product that does a better job
FABRIC softener may be one of your laundry essentials, but it can get expensive using it with every load.
TikTok’s savvy mom Jacquelin Castillo told viewers the real thing isn’t worth it compared to her $2 alternative.
Jacquelin is the all-knowing mom-of-two behind the account Momlikeaboss_.
From school hacks to snack ideas, she shares it all.
Jacquelin posted a recent video in which she suggests a better and cheaper option to replace fabric softener.
The best part is this substitute is only $2.

“You actually don’t need fabric softener. I’ve used white distilled vinegar for years,” she says.
The Good & Gather White Distilled Vinegar is sold at Target for as little as $2.29.
“This will take that mildewy smell out of your towels, whiten, and deodorize,” she explains.
Jacquelin swears your clothes won’t end up smelling vinegary.

But if you’re worried about the smell, adding essential oils to the load can help.
All you need is a half cup of vinegar.
Jacquelin has never gone back to fabric softener again.
And some of her viewers haven’t either.
“I’ve been doing this & it works great,” one person wrote, while another commented: “One time I forgot my river towels in the car for a week and vinegar saved them from that awful fish odor.”
However, a viewer cautioned against adding in the essential oils.
“I wouldn’t add any essential oils tho bc I don’t want to add /oil/ to my clothes/machine,” she wrote.
