Man suspected of firing gun at moving cars in East Bay is arrested

ANTIOCH — A 29-year-old man suspected of shooting a gun at moving vehicles Thursday afternoon was arrested, police said.

Several eyewitnesses helped lead police to the man, after officers responded about 12:45 p.m.to several 911 calls reporting a man with a gun in the area of Country Hills Drive and Deerfield Drive. They detained the suspect there, police said.

The man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm.

The gunfire did not injure anybody, police said.

Students at Jack London Elementary School, located in the 4500 block of Country Hills Drive, sheltered in place during the incident. Police officers also were stationed at the school.

Police booked the suspect into the Martinez Detention Facility, where he remained Friday morning in lieu of $400,000 bail.
