One injured at Acadiana Mall shooting

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - Lafayette Police Department officers responded to a shooting at the Mall of Acadiana, with reports of one person being injured.

Around 2:30 p.m. on August 20, two individuals were involved in a physical altercation inside the Mall of Acadiana that lead to a firearm being shot, Lafayette Police said. One male was shot and was transported to a local hospital, according to authorities.

The suspect fled the scene before the officers arrived to the mall, police stated. Detectives with the criminal investigation division are on scene interviewing witnesses and gathering the facts. The investigation is ongoing.
